Should I get a swing gate or a rolling gate?
Your driveway usually decides this before you do. A swing gate needs clear room to travel through its arc, level ground under that arc, and enough depth off the street that a car can wait without hanging into traffic. A rolling gate needs room to run back alongside the fence line. Look at your drive and one of the two is almost always awkward.
A swing gate suits you if
The drive is level near the opening, there is depth between the gate and the street, and nobody parks in the arc. It is the classic estate look and the one most people picture.
A rolling gate suits you if
The drive slopes, the opening sits close to the street, or the space a swing would need is space you actually use. It runs sideways along the fence line instead of out into the drive.
Matching the fence
Either one can be built from the same cedar as your fence so it blends into the run rather than announcing itself. That is the most common request we get on a rolling gate.

Most of these gates were built from the same cedar as the fence running away from them, which is why they read as part of the line rather than an addition to it. Where you see iron, it was either the whole gate or an inset panel framed in wood.

What does a custom driveway gate cost?

One more thing, since nobody in this market says it out loud. Texas does not issue a state license for fence contractors. Any fence company here can print the word licensed on a truck, and most of the time it means a city registration or it means nothing at all. We would rather tell you that than let the word do work it has not earned. Judge us on the fence lines standing in your neighborhood.
